A Short Review
ECHNO 2025 kicked off with the Young Scientists Forum, moderated by the Young EHNS. Fifteen presenters under the age of 40 participated automatically in the competition for the Best Young Scientist Award. The winner received free registration to ECHNO 2027 as the prize.
A notable innovation at ECHNO 2025 was the introduction of parallel sessions. Unlike previous ECHNO meetings, which traditionally featured a single-room, multidisciplinary format, this new setup allowed for a broader and more dynamic scientific offering. Parallel sessions were topic specific and organized by Related Societies and Organizations including but limited to DAHANCA, ASHNO, Make Sense Campaign, young EHNS, AIOCC, Brazilian Head and Neck Society, IHNS, NWHHT, IFHNOS, German Head and Neck group and EACMFS. This concept proved to be a great success and is likely to set a new standard for future editions.
In addition to the main program with invited speakers and 15 parallel sessions covering a wide range of innovative topics, more than 350 abstracts were reviewed for 50 oral and 300+ poster presentations, resulting in a diverse and high-quality scientific contribution.

The program included:
- Keynote lectures by leading international experts
- 5 Round Tables on topical themes such as transoral robotic surgery, reconstructive planning, immunotherapy, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in healthcare
- 5 Main Sessions covering AI, biomarkers, novel diagnostics and treatments, rehabilitation and palliative care, and prognostic factors
- 15 Parallel sessions exploring a wide range of innovative topics
Beyond the scientific sessions, the congress also offered excellent opportunities for international exchange and networking, including a warm and welcoming Reception on Thursday evening and a festive Dinner & Party on Friday, both held at the Beurs van Berlage.
What participants said:
"From groundbreaking science to warm social moments, together we’ve pushed the field of head and neck oncology forward."
"One of the most well-organised congresses I’ve attended, the expectations for Berlin 2027 will be equally ambitious."
“I truly appreciated the interactive sessions and the chance to connect with colleagues from around the world.”
On Saturday around 13:00, the congress concluded with a word of thanks from René Leemans and a look ahead to ECHNO 2027, hosted in Berlin.
The EHNS looks back with pride on this inspiring and successful edition of ECHNO and warmly thanks all who contributed to its success.
